Staff Professional Development

At Middle Tennessee State University, our Academic Affairs staff are essential to the success of our students and the strength of our campus community. Professional growth isn’t just encouraged, it’s supported. Through LinkedIn Learning, MTSU provides staff members with on‑demand access to thousands of high‑quality courses designed to help you build skills, explore new interests, and advance your career.

Continuous learning benefits both you and our university community. By investing in your development, you can:

  • Strengthen your current job skills
  • Discover new areas of interest or expertise
  • Increase your confidence and effectiveness
  • Stay current with evolving tools and workplace trends
  • Support MTSU’s mission of excellence and innovation

Whether you’re new to your role or a seasoned staff member, there is always something new to learn and contribute.

LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform offering thousands of expert‑led courses on topics such as:

  • Leadership and management
  • Microsoft Office and digital tools
  • Communication and teamwork
  • Customer service
  • Time management and productivity
  • Diversity, belonging, and workplace culture
  • Creative software, design, and multimedia
  • Data skills, technology, and analytics

Courses are available anytime, anywhere, and you can learn at your own pace.

MTSU staff have free access to LinkedIn Learning.

  1. Visit ITD’s LinkedIn Learning page for the LinkedIn Learning login link
  2. Log in with your MTSU credentials
  3. Browse or search for topics that interest you OR use one of our collections below
  4. Start learning and track your progress along the way

You can also download the LinkedIn Learning mobile app to learn on the go. Instructions are provided on ITD’s LinkedIn Learning page.

Connecting your MTSU LinkedIn Learning account with your personal LinkedIn account is not required, but it does have the potential to open up a richer learning experience.

It allows you to:

  • Join groups of other learners tailored to your interests
  • Engage in meaningful Q&A, taking part in discussions with instructors and other learners
  • See what your network is learning and share what you’re learning
  • Highlight your professional growth by adding certifications and new skills to your LinkedIn profile

Because your completed coursework and new skills appear on your profile, you naturally enhance your visibility to peers, recruiters, and employers, which can open doors to new professional opportunities. Additionally, when your certifications and skills are attached to your personal LinkedIn profile, your achievements stay with you long-term, independent of the institution that provided access.

Recommended LinkedIn Learning Courses

In Winter 2026, the Center for Teaching and Mentoring conducted a survey of Academic Affairs staff to better understand your professional development priorities, interests, and skill‑building needs. Staff survey responses played a central role in shaping our approach.

Using the insights shared by staff members, we collaborated closely with the LinkedIn Learning team to curate targeted collections of courses that directly align with the competencies and topics survey respondents identified as most valuable. This tailored content ensures that the professional development resources available to you are meaningful, relevant, and responsive to the goals reported in the survey.

We were thrilled by the number of high‑quality courses we reviewed during our curation process. In fact, there were so many valuable options that we couldn’t include all of them. If you’re interested in exploring additional learning opportunities, we’d love to help. Please feel free to reach out via email, and we’ll be happy to connect you with even more professional development resources.
