New Faculty

The Center for Teaching and Mentoring is committed to helping new faculty receive the information and support they need to start strong at MTSU. We have compiled a variety of resources to assist you in navigating your new faculty role at MTSU. From orientation materials to campus resources, we aim to provide you with the necessary tools for a smooth transition and successful start to your career at MTSU. We are here to support you every step of the way!

New Faculty Orientation is an opportunity for first-year faculty to become acquainted with MTSU key personnel, expectations, and resources, and to learn about unique aspects of our campus culture. This one-day program takes place during the week before the start of the fall semester.

New Faculty Orientation Pre-Sessions are designed to connect with and acclimate new faculty prior to the one-day New Faculty Orientation.

New Faculty Q&A“New Faculty Q&A” are sessions targeted to faculty who are new to MTSU. These remote sessions provide opportunities for new faculty to speak with and ask questions regarding anything MTSU. Facilitators: Brian Hinote, Vice Provost for Faculty and Strategic Initiatives, and Jennifer Vannatta-Hall, Director of the Center for Teaching and Mentoring
Prepping for Success“Prepping for Success” are sessions targeted to faculty who are new to MTSU. These remote sessions will cover technical tools, teaching tools, programs and services, and pertinent policies to arm new faculty with the information they need to start strong. Facilitator: Jennifer Vannatta-Hall, Director of the Center for Teaching and Mentoring
D2L Walk-in Clinics“D2L Walk-in Clinics” are open to all faculty and GTA’s serving as instructor of record for their courses. These sessions offer convenient support from D2L specialists. Drop in to get help with setting up your courses, creating assignments, setting up grade books, or any other questions you have regarding D2L. Sessions are offered both in-person in LIB 264A, which has 36 computers stations, as well as a remote Zoom session.
